3M Launches Health Care Virtual Pro Bono Program

WASHINGTON, October 29, 2020 /3BL Media/ – PYXERA Global is proud to announce the launch of 3M Impact Health Care, a new virtual pro bono program. 3M Impact Health Care is the newest addition to the 3M Impact portfolio, specifically designed to address existing healthcare inequities. As COVID-19 continues to further exasperate the existing healthcare disparities, 3M Impact Health Care aims to build the capacity of nonprofit and community health organizations who are focused on delivering quality health care across the globe.

The program will consist of 100 3M employees who will spend a total of eight weeks providing health organizations with critical organizational support and enable them to develop new and innovative interventions centered on healthcare inequities. The first deployment of 32 participants launched this October, partnering with eight organizations from the U.S to Brazil to Kenya. By design, the 3M Impact Health Care program embraces the complexity of healthcare systems to focus on addressing healthcare disparities specifically across groups that face significant disparities in access and utilization of care. Each project within the program calls on both 3M employees and healthcare organizations to meaningfully engage in healthcare transformation and identify opportunities to stimulate innovation.

In early 2019, 3M released its sustainability framework, outlining the three priorities for the biggest impact: Science for Circular, Science for Community, and Science for Climate. 3M Impact Health Care will contribute to 3M’s new sustainability goal, to provide 300,000 work hours of skills-based volunteerism by 3M employees to improve lives and help solve society’s toughest challenges.

Through cross sector collaboration and partnerships, healthcare organizations and 3M can realize ambitious goals. When asked about the primary goal for its social impact strategy and investments for healthcare, Michael Stroik, Director of 3Mgives and Vice President of 3M Foundation states, “As our traditional 3M Impact in-person engagements are not currently an option, we wanted to find a way to continue to support our community partners and empower our community-driven employees. No single organization can create racial equity on its own. We believe it will take communities, workplaces, governments and partnerships like these to come together and drive collective impact.”
