The eBay Foundation marked its 20th anniversary this year by launching the Global Give, a reboot of the company’s employee-led grantmaking program.

More than 500 volunteers in Las Vegas joined Las Vegas Sands and social enterprises Clean the World and the American Red Cross to build 35,000 hygiene and comfort kits to support populations in need. The large community volunteer effort was in part with the company’s global annual kit build and its active approach on community preparedness.

Volunteering has always been part of eBay product manager Ruchi Sethi’s life. She freely gives her time to teach kids in underserved areas, collect donations and serve food to the homeless, and support various NGOs in her community.

Boeing [NYSE: BA] corporate giving will exceed $230 million in 2018, driven by $55 million in new charitable grants, as well as increases in business and employee contributions.

Symantec’s Volunteer of the Quarter initiative highlights and rewards those employees who dedicate their time and talents to those in need. We have a long and proud history of encouraging our employees to volunteer. While the driving force of our efforts is largely altruistic, there is even more to volunteering than giving back to our communities. Volunteering makes our company a better place to work, so employees are helping both Symantec and the organizations they volunteer for.

Today we highlight our Volunteer of the Quarter Marcelo Oliveira, Senior Director of Product Management, in our Mountain View, CA office.

Whirlpool Corporation has found an interesting way to engage with students at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University — by having them participate in a Habitat for Humanity house build on campus. The build is the ninth one that Whirlpool Corp. has sponsored at the campus.

Last Saturday, Xylem employees concluded a year-long project with a local nonprofit in Pinson, AL, where they built and installed 18 benches and created an outdoor classroom for students to learn and engage with nature. The organization—Turkey Creek Nature Preserve—provides educational programming for thousands of students each year. The programs focus on science, history, and social sciences that meet STEM and the Alabama State Department of Education College and Career-Ready Standards. With Xylem’s help, the organization now has a beautiful new classroom that will make an impact in the its ability to continue to teach kids for years to come.
