In honor of National Volunteer Week, Common Impact is hosting a Twitter chat on Tuesday, April 25th at 12pm EDT to explore how corporate skills-based volunteer programs activate civic engagement in employee volunteers.

Recycle DSM (Des Moines), a partnership between the City of Des Moines, Iowa, and Operation Downtown, added 42 new recycling bins for the City's Downtown. The new bins, which were provided by a Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant, are placed in the Historic East Village and the Western Gateway.

For Earth Day 2017, Feeding America® is announcing the launch of MealConnectTM, an innovative technology platform that makes food donation as simple as a click. Barco started their Hats Off program several years ago and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every Wendy’s crew hat is donated to the DTFA. Their founder, Michael Donner, is also on the DTFA’s Supplier Advisory Council. Keep America Beautiful, the national nonprofit that envisions a country in which every community is a clean, green and beautiful place to live, today announced a partnership with Hubbub’s Neat Streets campaign to end cigarette butt litter in a creative and interactive way. Keep America Beautiful’s Cigarette Litter Prevention Program will pilot Hubbub’s Ballot Bin receptacles in five locations across the United States this spring.

At the Armed Services YMCA we have heard these and many other examples of why childcare is so important. It can especially make a huge difference in the lives of our young military families. We offer many programs designed to help meet the challenges of military life, but few are as needed as childcare.
