Whole Planet Foundation is proud to welcome Weleda, a new $50,000 donor to our cause of global poverty alleviation. Weleda's generosity this year will fund approximately 275 microloans and 1,500 opportunities for microentrepreneurs and their family members to live a better life through microcredit.

Whole Planet Foundation is proud to share that Papyrus-Recycled Greetings, the founding member of the $100,000 Fund, has donated a total of $500,000 to fund 5,800 microloans and create 29,000 opportunities for microentrepreneurs and their family members to pull themselves out of poverty.

In Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake, piles of plastic bottles littering the island mushroomed into mountains. Bottled water and other supplies shipped in to help Haitians wound up everywhere — in canals, on beaches and lining the streets. Now, those bottles are finding a second life as printer cartridges.

Women’s financial inclusion is essential to achieving gender equality by enabling them to handle their finances with greater privacy, security and efficiency, and providing a platform for future investments.

New research from Barclays has found that the Midlands is one of the most cost effective regions for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) in the UK to start. The Barclays Midlands Growth Fund is targeted at these SMEs and is designed to boost jobs and economic growth. The five-year initiative will work in tandem with the UK Government’s own £250m Midlands Engine Investment Fund.
