Ready for Summer: SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center Opens

Just in time for summer, a celebration will be held today to commemorate the grand opening of the SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center, the first aquatic center to be developed in Racine County, located in Racine’s Pritchard Park. The Aquatic Center is funded by a $6.5 million donation from SC Johnson, and will open to the public June 2.

On Tuesday, May 8th, PENCIL, an organization devoted to ensuring the advancement of New York City students, made it possible for business professionals and school leaders to participate in a variety of activities that connected students to successful and caring adults.

Viacom’s very own Khadijah Sharif-Drinkard, Vice President, Associate General Counsel of BALA, participated in the day’s festivities by volunteering at the same high school she attended, A. Philip Randolph High School in Harlem. Khadijah understands the value of a strong education and participated in the event with the goal of sharing her knowledge and expertise with those who could greatly benefit.

Gilead Announces 10-Year, $100 Million Commitment to Address the HIV/AIDS Epidemic in the Southern United States

Gilead Sciences, Inc.(NASDAQ:GILD) today announced the launch of the Gilead COMPASS (COMmitment to Partnership in Addressing HIV/AIDS in Southern States) Initiative, a 10-year, $100 million commitment to support organizations working to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Southern United States. Gilead will partner with three coordinating centers to lead the corporate giving program of the initiative: Emory University Rollins School of Public Health, the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Workand the Southern AIDS Coalition. These coordinating centers will identify and provide funding to local organizations that are committed to addressing the epidemic throughout the region, focusing on capacity building and shared knowledge; wellbeing, mental health and trauma-informed care

The PepsiCo Foundation today announced a $4 million grant to the Robin Hood Foundation – New York City's largest poverty-fighting organization – to support high-quality education and workforce training programs for young women and girls in the Bronx. The grant will fund initiatives to help 20,000 females ages 13-24 in the Bronx increase their earning potential, addressing an acute need in New York City's poorest borough in which 1 in 3 women – more than 220,000 women – are living in poverty.
