Albertsons Companies Proves Supermarket Chains Can Practice Sustainability

Can a large supermarket chain really practice sustainability? One of the largest supermarket chains in the U.S. proves they can.

Albertsons Companies is one of the winners of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award. The EPA recognized the company, which operates stores in 35 states and the District of Columbia under 18 different banners, for its commitment to bringing awareness of the federal agency’s Safer Choice Program for sustainable products. The Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award recognizes businesses and organizations that advance the goal of the program to promote chemical safety.

Boise City Enjoys the Benefits of Investing in Safety and Compressed Natural Gas

Republic Services of Idaho recently presented the City of Boise with a check for $117,000 to launch the City’s first electric vehicle fleet. During the presentation, David Bedford was also recognized as NWRA’s National Driver of the Year (Industrial LOB).

Sodexo Applauds University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Team for Becoming First Food Recovery Certified Organization in the State

Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life Services, today applauds the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UH Mānoa), its students and dining services staff for their work in diverting more than 1,000 pounds of safe, nutritious food from landfills to those at risk of hunger. Because of these efforts, the university recently became the first and only Food Recovery Certified chapter of the Food Recovery Network in the state. Mānoa Dining Services is managed by Sodexo, a company known for improving the communities in which it operates through sustainable practices and community outreach initiatives.

FCA US Receives 2016 NGV Achievement Award for Converting Transport Fleet to Compressed Natural Gas

Natural Gas Vehicles for America presented FCA US LLC the 2016 NGV Achievement Award, celebrating the Company’s $40 million investment to changeover all 179 Detroit-based parts-haulers to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) rather than traditional diesel. The move gave FCA US the largest private fleet of CNG-powered heavy-duty vehicles in the state of Michigan.
