NEW YORK, April 9, 2019 /3BL Media/ — Nonprofits and non-governmental organizations around the world are taking on society’s greatest challenges each and every day. But how can these organizations get the support they need to meet the mounting needs in our communities?

The Taproot Foundation, with support from BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt and Impact Sponsor BNY Mellon, will gather leaders of the pro bono movement from 25 countries to explore emerging trends at the 7th annual Global Pro Bono Summit, May 7 – 9, in New York City. The 2019 Summit marks the first time since 2014 that the event returns stateside.

“Pro bono service plays a vital and growing role in strengthening the social sector around the world,” says Lindsay Firestone Gruber, Taproot Foundation’s President and CEO. “The Global Pro Bono Summit is a rare opportunity for us to bring together builders and shakers of the movement, progressive voices of social change, and leaders from across sectors to innovate on ways that we can accelerate change by better supporting the needs of organizations serving our communities.”

“The BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt co-founded the Global Pro Bono Network and Summit and has been a partner in this work from the beginning,” says Markus Hipp, board member of the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt. “We believe that pro bono is a powerful instrument for responsible leadership to advance the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.”

“BNY Mellon is proud to support the pro bono movement through its role as Impact Sponsor of the Global Pro Bono Summit,” said Daisey Holmes, Global Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility at BNY Mellon. “We have experienced first-hand the profound dual impact of pro bono, both to empower our nonprofit partners and to engage our employees in meaningful, purpose-driven work with the community.”

Attendance at the Global Pro Bono Summit is by invitation only, but a few select spots remain available. If interested in attending, contact Vanessa Waserman, Director of Corporate Relations, at Taproot Foundation.
