The report provides detailed information on RWE´s CR strategy, objectives, key measures and performance. RWE´s CR strategy is clearly tailored to the specific challenges of its business. It is laid down in ten areas for action each containing objectives and measures. To supply a transparent and material reporting the report is now structured according to these ten areas for action. The report provides an overview for each area for action including key performance indicators.

RWE is one of Europe’s five leading electricity and gas companies. Its activities comprise the generation, trading, transmission and supply of electricity and gas, lignite mining and oil and gas production. More than 72,000 employees supply over 16 million customers with electricity and some 8 million customers with gas. In fiscal 2011, RWE recorded about € 50 billion in revenue. RWE has been a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) since its inception in 1999.   In fiscal 2011 RWE continued to modernise its power generation portfolio. Important milestones have been reached in the expansion of renewables, too. Energy efficiency is a further area of activity, which has become more important at RWE. In 2011, the Group proved to be the biggest supplier of infrastructure for electro mobility.
