Campaign: Pro Bono Week
Pro Bono Week 2014

October 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Today marks the beginning of Pro Bono Week 2014, a global campaign led by Taproot Foundation, which celebrates the pro bono ethic across all professions that use their talents to make a difference. Taproot is a key leader and architect of the pro bono movement, and has convened over 50 US and global organizations to participate in this year’s week-long effort.

Inspired by the American Bar Association, which founded Pro Bono Week for the legal profession, Taproot is shining a spotlight not only on the outstanding work of business professionals who volunteer their professional expertise throughout the year, but also on the leaders in the nonprofit sector who use pro bono resources to build capacity for their organizations and deliver on their missions. Organizations like the Chicago Architecture Foundation, Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, and Life Pieces to Masterpieces have leveraged pro bono resources to do more with more, proving that pro bono service is a viable and reliable tool for strengthening nonprofit infrastructure.

Taproot’s Pro Bono Week activities include public events nationwide like the Pro Bono Awards Gala in Chicago and Pro Bono Day NYC. Most importantly, our work as part of Pro Bono Week supports our friends and partners in showcasing the outstanding work of all the business professionals who donate their skills for good throughout the year. And continuing its dedication to the thoughtful expansion of pro bono resources for mission-driven organizations, Taproot is launching Taproot+, a new and interactive platform that connects nonprofit professionals to a curated group of skilled volunteers for short-term, high impact pro bono projects.

Eager to get involved in Pro Bono Week? Explore Taproot+ and other complementary platforms like the LinkedIn Volunteer Marketplace. And, join the conversation all week on social media using #PBW14.

A special thank you to Deloitte for their support of Taproot in making Pro Bono Week 2014 possible.

ABOUT PRO BONO SERVICE

Pro bono--short for pro bono publico, "for the public good"—refers to professional services delivered without expectation of a fee to organizations serving the social good. It is both a form of support for community organizations as well as an increasingly core part of the ethic of business professionals from design to HR and technology, who believe that high-quality professional services are too important to only be available to those who can afford them.
