Greenville, S.C., Jan. 14, 2015 /3BL Media/ – CITGO Marketer Piedmont Petroleum recently completed its annual fundraising campaign to support Harvest Hope Food Bank, bringing the total funds raised to more than $50,000 over the last five years.  During the 2014 campaign, company employees raised more than $18,000 and packed 300 boxes of food for the charity. Harvest Hope Food Bank feeds the hungry in 20 South Carolina counties, where 71 percent of the population routinely chooses between paying for food and paying for medicine or medical care.

“We are so thankful to once again have Piedmont Petroleum working with Harvest Hope Food Bank to help feed hungry families,” said Harvest Hope Food Bank Director of Donor Relations Jane Daniel. “Piedmont began partnering with us in 2010 and has increased its participation and donation each year since! Every year the company proves its sincere commitment to the community we both serve by helping provide for those in need.”

“At Piedmont Petroleum we are fully committed to serving people in the communities in which we operate – which is a core CITGO value as well,” said Kenneth Cosgrove, vice president of operations and marketing for Piedmont Petroleum. “We care deeply about our communities, and there is no more devoted and deserving organization than Harvest Hope. Each year we raise more and more to help feed the hungry, and we look forward to another record-setting year in 2015.”

Harvest Hope Food Bank provides for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education. Harvest Hope began in 1981 as the result of a shared vision of business leaders and the faith community who set out to provide for the hungry in Columbia. Since then Harvest Hope has increased its mission to feed the hungry across 20 counties of South Carolina. Harvest Hope distributed over 28 million pounds of food last year and fed approximately 38,000 people a week. Learn more at www.harvesthope.org.
