Mongolian KFC Franchisee Siilen Baatarsaikhan worked with the Rotary Club International’s Rotaract Club of Ulaanbaatar to arrange a visit for 38 Mongolian orphans to her KFC restaurant creating day they will never forget. “To help these children, many organizations and individuals do volunteer works at these orphanages. However, all these activities take place at the orphanages so the children rarely have the opportunity to go out of the establishment. Therefore, instead of us coming to them, we decided to bring them to us,” said Baatarsaikhan.

Once the children from the Lotus Orphanage were brought to the KFC, they were treated to a day full of excitement and wonderful memories. The agenda for the day included a presentation on the origin of origami, lessons to create origami cranes, a sing and dance session with singer Hishigjargal, and a group drawing challenge with the “our day at KFC” theme.

To finish off the jam-packed day of activities, the children “enjoyed the finger-licking-good KFC” said Baatarsaikhan. When the children finished their meals, they were given a parting gift of school supplies and a KFC balloon. Baatarsaikhan also gave the officials from the Lotus Orphanage a much needed vacuum to keep the facility where the children live clean.

“We have already identified several orphanages as well as groups of disabled children to host. Through the implementation of this project, we hope to inspire the children to love and care for one another and encourage others to do more activities where the children would have the opportunity to experience new environments,” said Baatarsaikhan on expanding the franchise’s community efforts.
