With a new investment of more than US $170,000 signed earlier this year, Gildan and World Vision Honduras are enhancing their existing partnership and will collaborate to diligently strengthen World Vision’s sustainable education intervention program in 1,200 schools in Honduras.

Together, the two organizations will continue to implement their “Education & Transformation of Children” program which they have been partnering on together for three years. This specific program aims to promote the development of life and leadership skills in youth aged 6 to 12, in a safe and healthy environment.

“This program focuses on equipping parents, caregivers, teachers and children with the necessary knowledge and tools to become well-rounded citizens,” says Claudia Sandoval, Vice President of corporate citizenship at Gildan. “Creating stronger communities in the areas where we operate has always been a focus for Gildan and one of the three core pillars of our Genuine Responsibility program,” Mrs. Sandoval added.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Gildan,” says Jorge Galeano, Director of World Vision Honduras. “We will be a strategic ally in improving the living conditions and opportunities of the most vulnerable children in the country. I estimate that Gildan’s contribution will positively impact close to 67,000 children and 5,200 teachers in the country,” Mr. Galeano added.

This partnership is part of Gildan’s Young Sustainability Leaders program which is strategically aligned with four of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The program aims to fund and support organisations that can bring about transformational change and prepare future generations to positively contribute to their communities and their planet.
