Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Provides Funding for Clean Water Program in Indonesia

Papua’s Mimika Regency is one of the fastest-growing in Indonesia. Mimika’s urban center, Timika, will benefit from PT Freeport Indonesia’s clean water initiatives.

May 14, 2013 /3BL Media/ - PT Freeport Indonesia, a Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold company, has agreed to provide the Mimika district in Papua, Indonesia, with $10 million in funding for clean water facilities.

Construction of the water treatment facility began in 2012 and is expected to be completed by 2014.

Clean water from the new water treatment facility will be available to people in the towns surrounding PT Freeport Indonesia’s operations.
