Homer, Mich., December 9, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Folk Oil Company and its 31 PS Food Mart locations in Toledo, Ohio and across south-central Michigan recently supported a sales campaign to combat hunger during the fifth annual PS Food Mart Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts® fundraiser. As a direct result of dedicated employee efforts and generous customer contributions, 62,000 Pop-Tarts were donated to more than 40 local charities. The recipient organizations were chosen by the manager of each participating PS Food Mart location and include food pantries, churches and afterschool programs.

“We are constantly in awe of our customers’ and employees’ willingness to rally around our community,” said Jim Linton, vice president of business development at Folk Oil Company. “As evidenced by the 62,000 Pop-Tarts donated this year, our communities are extremely generous in their efforts to help the less fortunate heading into the holiday season. We are grateful for this community instinct and are happy to assist the crucial work of local charities.”

From Oct. 1 through Nov. 2, PS Food Mart customers were encouraged to purchase two individual Pop-Tarts for $1 or one box of Pop-Tarts for $3 to be donated. Donations will benefit more than 40 local organizations, including the Homer Caring and Sharing Food Pantry in Homer, Mich., First Wesleyan Church Pantry in Battle Creek, Mich., YMCA Trunk or Treat in Jackson, Mich., Toledo Seagate Food Bank in Toledo, Ohio and Swanton Area Schools Back Pack Buddies in Swanton, Ohio.
