Consumers Energy announced today that it plans to develop its third solar power plant in Cadillac, building on its Triple Bottom Line commitment to people, the planet and Michigan’s prosperity. The Cadillac City Council this week approved an agreement to allow Consumers Energy to place solar panels on the Mitchell-Bentley property, a currently vacant site with a manufacturing history that dates to the late 1800s.

Viacom’s Corporate Social Responsibility branch, also known as Viacommunity, recently partnered with the “I Have A Dream” Foundation to engage in a service opportunity in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Viacom employees had the opportunity to lend their time to assembling care packages, which included: healthy snacks, supplies, and writing encouraging notes. Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation announced today that it will offer grants totaling $ 40,000 to The Capital Area Food Bank and to Manna Food Center (Manna), two not-for-profit organizations. The grants will support efforts by those organizations to make nutritious food accessible to those in need. Due to the partial government shutdown, more families needed food assistance and food banks, nonprofits and community leaders were attempting to fill the gap.
In preparation of the storm, the local Xylem Commercial Team deployed dewatering pumps and equipment to its customers to help them withstand the weather and protect critical infrastructure to mitigate the negative impacts of the storm. In addition, Xylem supported key nonprofit partners Mercy Corps and Team Rubicon, which deploys military veterans to respond to natural disasters alongside first responders. After the hurricane, Xylem led a campaign to send relief items such as lanterns, solar chargers, food, and water to those in need. Additionally, a Xylem employee donation drive, in partnership with iHeart Radio in Atlanta, collected and delivered cases of bottled water to hurricane victims.
