When guests visit our integrated resorts, they are treated to elegantly designed spaces, celebrity chef restaurants and exquisite customer service. But rarely do they realize what it takes to operate these mini cities behind the scenes. While our ultimate purpose is guest satisfaction, we also consciously aim to reduce our environmental footprint.
Sands ECO360, the global corporate sustainability program of Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) has released its 2016 environmental report. The report marks the company’s first annual measurement against its revised sustainability goals, building upon the success and key learnings of original targets set in 2011 and reported on through 2015.
Our goal is to develop resorts that become destinations and create everlasting memories for our guests. At the same time, we also try to do it with the utmost respect for our host communities. We all have a stake in protecting the planet’s natural resources, which is why our team is working hard to design buildings with high performance and sustainability in mind.
Joy Stoddard is the Development and Outreach Director for Whole Planet Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Whole Foods Market. We were lucky enough to have a conversation with Joy about her motivation to give back, stemming from her earliest job as a candy striper to her career with Whole Foods. Joy has traveled the world working with microentrepreneurs and shared her unique perspective of having sought out opportunities to make an impact through for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations alike.
