Sunday, April 7 marked the 19th year of A Special Evening, an annual Dallas/Fort Worth-area benefit concert event that supports My Possibilities and the organization’s LaunchAbility Career Services program. The organization offers socialization, education, therapy, training and job placement support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
In Houston, students from 88 schools in Texas and Florida and several from Spain competed across 253 teams, more than a third of which have participated in previous CodeWars. This is the third year winners from Barcelona were invited to compete in Houston. “HP has really helped the kids push themselves, to solve bigger problems and to learn more,” says Barcelona team coach Albert Falgueras Xarbau.

Recently, a team of John Hancock volunteers completed a Salesforce implementation project with the Urban Farming Institute (UFI), a social innovation organization that supports the development of urban farming and promotes healthier, locally based food systems. Since its founding in 2012, UFI has trained individuals to practice urban farming, increased the opportunity to farm by acquiring and leasing urban plots of land for farming activities, and developed awareness of the benefits of urban farming through public education and advocacy. As the organization grew, UFI leadership recognized that a more efficient and effective database would help them continue to scale their program and they ultimately selected a nonprofit-focused Salesforce system.
CNH Industrial’s Case IH Grand Island Facility hosted a “signing day” event on April 2 to celebrate its support of the certified Youth Apprentice Program with the Department of Labor and Career Pathways High School in the city of Grand Island. Together with company representatives, the event was attended by Debra Cremeens-Risinger, U.S. Department of Labor Nebraska State Director, who signed the program registration, along with Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska Mike Foley and Dan Phillips, Director of Career Pathways.
