Ranked No. 29, GM is the only automotive company on this list. GM is also No. 6 on the GPP’s Top On-Site Generation list and No. 14 on EPA’s list of Green Power Partners from the Fortune 500®.

GM Earns ‘Biggest Loser’ Recognition in the Michigan Battle of the Buildings
General Motors has won the title of 2018 Biggest Loser in the Michigan Battle of the Buildings competition for its energy and water reduction efforts at three Michigan sites. Over 1,000 buildings across the state competed in the year-long energy and water reduction competition hosted by the U.S. Green Building Council of West Michigan (USGBC-WM).

GM Earns 2019 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for Sustained Excellence
General Motors has earned a 2019 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award in Energy Management for continued leadership and superior contributions to ENERGY STAR. This is GM’s eighth recognition for Sustained Excellence. GM’s commitment to reducing energy intensity since 2010 has eliminated 1.5 million tons in carbon emissions, equivalent to the electric use of 260,000 homes for a year.

LEDs in Action: General Motors Is Saving With Tomorrow in Mind
When General Motors wanted to reduce energy consumption across its portfolio, it tapped into Current, powered by GE, to outfit its facilities with new LED fixtures that will cut lighting-related energy use by more than 60 percent. After starting installations in 2017, the automaker is well on its way with more than 50,000 LED fixtures installed. At the same time, GM is incorporating sensors and controls into the new light fixtures to create a future-proof digital ceiling that can provide even greater savings and become part of a more robust intelligent infrastructure.

General Motors Recognized for Exceptional Freight Performance
General Motors North America was recently awarded the 2018 SmartWay Excellence Award, the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) highest honor for leadership in freight performance. The award recognizes the top two percent of SmartWay Partners with superior environmental performance. This year, GM is the only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) represented on the list.

Northwest Ohio Wind Farm to Power General Motors’ Ohio, Indiana Plants
Officials from General Motors and Starwood Energy Group joined Ohio lawmakers, county officials and local landowners today at a press conference to unveil the Northwest Ohio Wind Farm, a 100-megawatt wind project under construction in Paulding County, Ohio. Power purchased from the wind farm will help offset the power used at General Motors’ Ohio and Indiana manufacturing facilities with clean, renewable energy.
