Health is an important but often overlooked component of CSR. With the increasing emotional stress levels of individuals and businesses and rising health care costs, health needs to become a key metric of social responsibility and in GIIRS metrics.

It seems obvious that sustainability has to include sustainable health. It’s time for socially responsible companies to acknowledge the emotional and physical health of their employees as a critical metric to their success. Employee wellness leads to corporate health, which leads to better returns for companies.   HeartMath has taken on “sustainable health” as a mission. Our research has found that to achieve corporate social “responsibility,” there needs to be as much focus on employee mental, emotional and physical resilience and health as on other aspects of social or environmental responsibility. This requires providing employees with programs and incentives that enable and empower attitude and behavior changes to improve and sustain health and wellness.   The HeartMath mission statement is: facilitate a fundamental shift in health, well-being and consciousness. For a mission to be successful, a business has to start with itself. HeartMath/Quantum Intech implemented an alignment of policies and practices to support the mental, emotional and physical health of our staff, and provide products and services to support the health of organizations and consumers.
