Every year, as part of its long commitment to support our nation’s military communities, Walmart helps Wreaths Across America (WAA) recognize the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans and their families through wreath laying ceremonies around the nation. Coordinated and led by local volunteers, this annual event seeks to further the WAA’s mission — Remember, Honor, Teach — ensuring that the memory of those who served our country endures.

National Wreath Laying Day: Saturday, December 16, 2017

For 10 years, Walmart has joined other businesses and individuals nationwide to support WAA’s efforts to thank hometown heroes across the country through monetary donations and transportation services. This year, the company donated the services of 16 tractor-trailers, and more than 100 Walmart truck drivers – many of whom are veterans themselves – to transport more than 100,000 wreaths to 20 national cemeteries in 12 states and the District of Columbia.

In addition, Walmart provided $215,000 to help purchase more than 23,000 wreaths for placement at national cemeteries and memorial sites across the U.S., including Arlington National Cemetery. Since 2007, Walmart has provided more than $4.5 million in funding to Wreaths Across America to help purchase wreaths and provide in-kind transportation and logistics support.

Walmart is proud to continue to be part of such an important effort to remember our service members and their families during the holiday season. The Wreaths Across America event took place on December 16, 2017, but the wreaths will be displayed through mid-January 2018.
