The Sustainable Coffee Challenge Partners With Coffee Industry Innovator Nespresso
The Sustainable Coffee Challenge today welcomed Nestlé Nespresso SA (Nespresso) among its 83 partners who are seeking to make coffee the world's first sustainably grown commodity.
ARLINGTON, Va., September 29, 2017 /3BL Media/ - The Sustainable Coffee Challenge today welcomed Nestlé Nespresso SA (Nespresso) among its 83 partners who are seeking to make coffee the world's first sustainably grown commodity.
Last week, Nespresso launched a new campaign that puts sustainability efforts in the spotlight; building consumer awareness of the brand's support of coffee farmers across the globe. The initiative is part of Nespresso's longstanding commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
"As the Sustainable Coffee Challenge grows, we need innovators and leaders from the coffee industry to step up and help consumers and producers understand what's at stake for the future of coffee," said Bambi Semroc, Senior Strategic Advisor at Conservation International. "Adding Nespresso's vast experience and leadership into the Challenge will greatly bolster our efforts to make coffee the world's first sustainable agricultural product."
"For 30 years, Nespresso has been continuously innovating to deliver the highest quality coffee experiences to consumers worldwide and continuously learning how to integrate sustainability into its activities," said Jérôme Pérez, Global Head of Sustainability, Nespresso. "The Challenge is a great opportunity to collaborate with other stakeholders of the same landscapes, and identify the most innovative solutions and actions to reinforce the resilience of coffee communities."
The Sustainable Coffee Challenge, conceived by Conservation International and Starbucks and launched during the Paris climate meetings in 2015, is uniting players from across the coffee industry – growers, traders, roasters, retailers, governments and NGOs. It aims to stimulate greater demand for sustainable coffee while partnering to find solutions.
