Seven PGA TOUR Golfers Demonstrate a Century of Progress in Golf Clubs, Apparel at Zurich Classic 3-Hole Shoot Out
Golfers to Play in 1912-Themed Apparel and with Classic Hickory Shaft Clubs on April 24 to Raise Funds for Charity
(3BL Media) New Orleans, LA - April 23, 2012 - Golf apparel has come a long way through the years, but it has always given players the chance to express their distinct style – no matter the decade.
As part of a year-long celebration of 100 years insuring America, Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) will give seven PGA TOUR golfers the chance to express their style with a vintage twist at the 100-Year Challenge taking place April 24, 2012 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Designers such as Hugo Boss ® and PUMA ® have crafted custom baggy knickers, argyle socks, ties and sweaters for the players to sport as part of the charity exhibition. Each athlete also will check his swing with classic hickory shaft clubs in the three-hole exhibition.
“When it comes to insurance and golf, 1912 was an important year. It’s the birthdate of golf legends Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan and Zurich’s founding in the United States,” said Mike Foley, CEO North America Commercial for Zurich. “The 100-Year Challenge presents us with a fun and exciting way to celebrate this milestone year.”
By participating, players will receive $1,000 for their charity of choice with the winner earning an additional $1,000 for his charity. The 100-Year Challenge participants include:
