(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) June 27, 2011 - In 2011 eni has embarked on a new way of communicating its commitment towards sustainable development and has pioneered the “One Report” approach. The new reporting system embodies a ground-breaking new approach aimed to show how sustainability is integrated in eni’s strategies and activities. The new reporting system bases on three pillars which explore this integration from complementary perspectives with the aim to meet the expectations of eni’s stakeholders.

The first pillar is eni for development. Here eni makes a cutting-edge effort to capture for the first time its contribution to local and global sustainable development, focusing on the role the company can play in contributing to one of the main challenges: assuring the access to sustainable energy for all.

The document explores how eni’s business conduct in operating countries advance crucial goals such as local content improvement, ecosystem protection and transparency, designing win win solutions.

eni for development embodies eni’s commitment to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, that was recognized by the UN Global Compact through the inclusion of eni in the LEAD Platform.

The second pillar is the new integrated Annual Report. Consistently with global trends, eni complemented financial and sustainability information in the section Commitment to Sustainable Development of its Annual Report. The section digs financial information with sustainability data to report how sustainability issues are considered while designing business strategies.

The third pillar, the Sustainability Performance 2010,is an online interactive tool which collects all sustainability and business figures, data and projects. The user is free to connect and compare sustainability and financial data to create personalised graphs.

The reporting system is drafted consistently with the Global Reporting Initiative G3 reporting system and certified by Ernst&Young.
