WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 23, 2013 /3BL Media/ – The College & University Recycling Coalition (CURC), in partnership with Keep America Beautiful, Inc. (KAB) and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), has announced the schedule for its 2013 series of educational webinars, sponsored by Alcoa Foundation. The series of six, bi-monthly programs will provide technical best practices information and case study presentations to an average audience of 150 college recycling and sustainability professionals

“There is a tremendous amount of knowledge on college campuses about how to build effective recycling programs,” said Robyn Hathcock, Chair, CURC. “That college and university-based experience is key to putting sustainable materials management at the forefront in the US.  Our goal with the CURC webinar series is to bring together that local campus expertise, share it with other campus recycling programs and let it blossom from there.“

CURC webinars feature recognized collegiate and industry recycling experts covering a range of topics related to sustainable materials management. The 2013 schedule presents a balanced menu of topics to serve all CURC members, whether they are just beginning a recycling program or fine-tuning an existing one.

“Alcoa Foundation is proud to sponsor the CURC webinar series, which allows waste and recycling experts to share best practices with campus-based sustainability professionals who are creating ‘greener’ campuses,” said Paula Davis, President, Alcoa Foundation. “Alcoa is committed to reaching a 75 percent recycling rate in the U.S., and colleges and universities present enormous opportunities to advance this goal by building awareness, supporting direct action and providing inspiration and incentives for the entire community.”

Join CURC for an exciting year of discussion and learning, as it addresses some of the most pressing issues in collegiate recycling.  All presentations are free to registered participants and take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST, unless otherwise noted.
