Caesars Employees Give Back During the Holiday Season

While we at Caesars feel it is important to contribute to the vibrancy of our communities year round, the holidays are always an extra special time to touch the lives of our neighbors and those in need. Here is a glimpse into how Caesars employees across the country are giving back this holiday season:

In the Northeast, Harrah’s Philadelphia is spreading brotherly love through its work with a number of diverse charity organizations. In November, employees donated over 1,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to City Team, a local shelter. This month they are sponsoring 200 soldiers overseas through We Serve TOO, a non-profit organization that supports military families. Employees will write holiday cards and create care packages to send holiday cheer to the brave men and women who are far from home and their loved ones. Harrah’s Philadelphia has also teamed up with the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots to bring smiles to children’s faces. Employees and guests can bring toys to Harrah’s to be donated to local organizations including the Crozer Chester Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. To top it off, this enthusiastic team is hosting a holiday party where 100% of the proceeds will go to Harrah’s HEART fund that assists employees who have been hit with an unforeseen financial crisis.

In the South, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs is showing true southern hospitality by helping local families get back on their feet after hardship. From December 1st to 10th, they hosted a Holiday Canned Food Drive to provide goods to their local Food Bank. Throughout the rest of the month, the HERO team is hosting three events: a Salvation Army Toy Shop to provide toys for disadvantaged kids, a Providence House Christmas Party with Casino Ops to raise support for struggling local families, and a Holiday Family Fun Party to support the HUB Homeless Mission.

In the Midwest, Horseshoe Cleveland is helping the homeless stay warm during the harsh Ohio winter through new and existing partnerships. Each year, the urban casino-resort sets up a Salvation Army Giving Tree where people fill the unadorned evergreen with cold winter wares such as gloves, ear warmers, and hats. In addition, Horseshoe Cleveland started a new partnership with Planet Aid this year and will host a hat and mitten drive. Proceeds from the drive will benefit City Mission, an organization that has struggled to provide winter clothes to local shelters.

This year, the Caesars Corporate Team partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada and worked hard to provide Thanksgiving meals to people who would have otherwise gone without. Their efforts resulted in the donation of more than 880 bags of non-perishable Thanksgiving meal fixings to several clubhouses and $35,000 in employee contributions to the cause. Changes in the structure of their program allowed them to increase the number of families they sponsor each year, tripling the number of families sponsored from 120 to over 500. This year the corporate team earned more than 4,400 HERO hours in just bagged donations. This does not include the time teams took to make personal deliveries to the Boys and Girls Club. The Boys and Girls Club is an important resource in the local communities of Caesars properties. Many employees have children that utilize the clubhouse services while they are work. Their efforts during the holidays have given back to a cause that gives to them every day.

Through the HERO program, Caesars employees volunteered over 160,000 hours in 600 events in 2013, which equates to the working hours of 80 full time employees for an entire year! This dedication to our communities and corporate citizenship is appreciated more than ever during the holiday months.
