Jun 12, 2012 12:00 PM ET

(3BL Media) St. Paul, MN – June 11, 2012 – The Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) has recently completed its fifth annual quantitative benchmark to evaluate water use and efficiency performance across more than 1,600 beverage manufacturing facilities, including bottling, brewery, distillery and winery operations.

Clean, high-quality water is the essential ingredient for all beverage products. Accordingly, beverage companies continually focus on water use avoidance and conservation to ensure this resource is managed responsibly. In keeping with its commitment to transparency, communication and stakeholder engagement, on June 14, 2012, BIER will share via live webinar select results of the Water Use Benchmarking in the Beverage Industry: Trends and Observations 2011 report.

The webinar entitled “Closing the Loop on Water Use in the Beverage Industry” will focus on water use and performance metrics collected during the benchmark study, including an evaluation of facility performance in water scarce regions. Additionally, important steps BIER members are taking to expand water stewardship beyond their four walls by accounting for water use in the supply chain will be discussed.

The webinar will be presented by Laura Nelson, Consultant, Global Corporate Consultancy of Antea Group. For the past three years Laura has managed the annual BIER water benchmarking study, including data collection, analysis, verification and reporting. The webinar, hosted and facilitated by 2degrees, is free of charge.
