Over the past 21 years, Prudential Spirit of Community Awards have been given to more than 115,000 middle and high school students across the country for helping the less fortunate, promoting health and safety, protecting the environment, and serving their communities through many other volunteer activities. Today the search begins to identify thousands more who have made meaningful contributions to their communities over the past 12 months, as the awards program kicks off its 22nd year.

Delia teaches eight-to-twelve year olds at the Hedwig-Bollhagen-Gymnasium Velten school in Kremmen, Germany. As well as biology and chemistry, she also is a physical education teacher and has 20 years' experience as an educator. Delia participated in Amgen Teach in 2015 and has taken full advantage of the training to help her apply inquiry-based practices in the classroom.

Catastrophic flooding has left much of Louisiana under a boil water advisory. Municipal water supplies across the affected region have been damaged by flood water, debris and lightning strikes. Kohler Co., a global leader in the plumbing industry, has donated 480 KOHLER Clarity water filters to flood victims through Operation Blessing International, a humanitarian organization which provides disaster relief, medical aid, clean water and community development.
