Cisco Connects to the Conservation Cause

In partnership with Dimension Data, Cisco launched Connected Conservation, our joint initiative, in 2015. This was the first solution of its kind to proactively protect rhinos while leaving them to roam freely. While we also look to explore and implement other solutions that track the animal in conjunction with a rich ecosystem of partners, Connected Conservation eliminates human interference.

Arrow Electronics Employees Spend Earth Day Cleaning Denver Park

For the second year, Arrow Electronics employees at the company’s global headquarters celebrated Earth Day by teaming with Denver Parks and Recreation to clean Commons Park, near downtown Denver. Arrow volunteers mulched around trees, picked up litter and pruned overgrowth at the park. Collectively, the 75 participating employees contributed 250 hours of volunteer labor. They were part of a larger group of 375 employees from local companies that saved the city $25,000 in maintenance work.

Smithfield Foods and RAE Partner to Produce Renewable Energy while Restoring Missouri’s Natural Environment

Smithfield Foods, Inc. and Roeslein Alternative Energy (RAE) have formed a joint venture called Monarch Bioenergy to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) across Smithfield’s hog farms in Missouri. This partnership converts manure collected from Smithfield farms into RNG, while simultaneously delivering ecological services and developing wildlife habitat. Once complete, all Smithfield company-owned finishing farms in Missouri will have the infrastructure to produce RNG, resulting in approximately 1.3 million dekatherms of RNG annually, which is the equivalent to eliminating 130,000 gasoline vehicles.

ANGEL'S ENVY® Supports the Future of Bourbon Through White Oak Preservation

ANGEL'S ENVY, the Louisville-based craft distiller that produces small batch, hand-finished whiskeys, wants to help ensure that forests of oak trees will stand tall for future generations.

This month, the team took to Daniel Boone National Forest to begin planting 20,724 trees – a commitment generated last September during National Bourbon Month as part of the brand’s annual Toast the Trees campaign.

Partners in Purpose: Bridgestone Nature Reserve at Chestnut Mountain

Since the 1970s, Bridgestone has owned and managed 6,000 acres east of Nashville, Tennessee. In June 2018, this land was donated to The Nature Conservancy. In addition to being an ideal and protected home for wildlife, the reserve also offsets the carbon emmissions produced by Nashville's Bridgestone Tower.

Bacardi and Mercy Corps Work Together to Aid Hurricane Recovery in Puerto Rico

More than a year after Hurricanes Maria and Irma hit the Caribbean, recovery efforts continue. As home to Casa BACARDÍ Visitor Center and the world’s largest premium rum distillery in the world, the recovery of Puerto Rico remains a priority for Bacardi. In 2018, the company provided a USD $1 million grant to Mercy Corps, a global humanitarian organization, to drive longer term rebuilding and recovery, providing support to small business owners and tourism recovery in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and St. Martin.
