generationOn, the youth division of Points of Light, partnered with FamilyFun Magazine to create a Capes for Kids project guide to encourage kids, teens, and families across the country to make capes for children in homeless shelters and hospitals to remind them to be strong, have hope, and keep going when times are tough.

FOX25, in partnership with The Trust for Public Land, today launched Boston’s 2016 Cox Conserves Heroes to honor local environmental volunteers. Nominations are being accepted now through July 25 at myfoxboston.com for volunteers in FOX25’s viewership area who are creating, preserving or enhancing outdoor spaces. Nominee activities must be performed on a volunteer basis and may not be part of one’s paid job.

On June 18, Republic Services hosted two introductory composting classes for Citrus Heights, CA residents. Local residents joined Republic and Worm Fancy to learn how to compost using worms.

Republic Services of Sacramento, the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership and the City of Rancho Cordova came together for Reuse Roundup, a school supply drive that aims to collect reusable school supplies from local schools at the end of the school year that would otherwise end up in our landfills.

For the Brixio team, supporting LIVESTRONG in the fight against cancer was a personal and collective desire. For our team, Brixio’s partnership with LIVESTRONG is a prime example of the simplicity and power behind business-nonprofit collaboration.

Sara had fallen into the wrong crowd during her time at a local high school. When she entered foster care, she was struggling with substance abuse issues and gang involvement. Sara was placed in a group home, miles away from her family (which had no transportation to visit her), where she was being treated for substance abuse, but the home had no Spanish speaking staff. She continued to receive therapy and substance abuse treatment services in English, to no avail. Having a language and cultural barrier between them, the social worker and all involved could not communicate effectively with her.

The number of STEM jobs is increasing—but the number of women entering these fields isn’t. We’re on a mission to change that.

Amgen Canada staff have a long history of supporting United Way in the Peel Region of Ontario, with approximately 50 percent of the head office staff participating. Last year they collectively donated almost $40,000 to the organization. Whether organizing a chili cook off and other fun events to raise funds, cleaning up a local park or stocking shelves at a food bank, these dedicated staff are committed to improving their local community.Last year, Amgen Canada staff joined over 150 volunteers to participate in United Way’s Spring Day of Caring. This annual event organizes efforts to fight poverty and improve lives by sending teams of volunteers into the community to work at participating non-profit organizations.
