GRI and the Swedish International Development Agency are embarking on a new joint program, which includes a partnership with the Danish Institute for Human Rights. This new phase has a specific focus on ​poverty alleviation, equality and human rights, and will stimulate responsible business towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

April 27, 2018 marks the 146th celebration of Arbor Day. A holiday established in 1872 in Nebraska City to inspire people to plant trees, it became a national holiday in 1972. To help people across the country get more easily involved in celebrating the country's first environmental holiday, the Arbor Day Foundation has launched celebratearborday.com.

At Republic Services, we are dedicated to supporting our customers and being a good neighbor in the communities in which we live and work. Each year in coordination with the Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Republic Services awards a $10,000 grant to a deserving Fountain Hills non-profit organization. Local Fountain Hills organizations interested in being considered for the grant may submit an application with a business plan for the grant monies.

Today, Cisco is proud to announce a five-year, $50 million commitment to Destination: Home, a San Jose-based public-private partnership which has demonstrated that providing permanent housing to chronically homeless people gives them the stability they need to change the trajectory of their lives. What’s more, this commitment can help Santa Clara County reduce unnecessary system costs and make better use of public funds.

In less than a month, Comcast NBCUniversal volunteers will lend a hand in support of communities around the world where we live and work during the 17th annual Comcast Cares Day on Saturday, April 21. Giving back is a value we embrace throughout the entire year, but on Comcast Cares Day we leverage our relationship with hundreds of partners large and small, to make change happen and broaden our reach. Last year alone, more than 100,000 employees participated in events in more than 20 different countries.

This year, our volunteers will refresh school playgrounds, teach kids to code, prepare urban gardens for spring, and provide free legal support to families in need, among many other meaningful acts of service.

Juhani Grossmann has been implementing anti-corruption and election programs in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia for more than 15 years. He currently leads the team from MSI, A Tetra Tech Company, that is implementing the U.S. Agency for International Development-funded Strengthening Integrity and Accountability program (USAID CEGAH) in Indonesia.

For Pfizer Inc. and Rise Against Hunger, however, the annual music, film and technology festival in Austin, Texas, also served as something else: an opportunity to fight global hunger and support progress toward our shared goal of a more prosperous future.
