First Comprehensive Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Initiative Launched in Africa

His Excellency the President Lieutenant General Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama of the Republic of Botswana, the Honorable Minister Dorcas Makgato of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation, Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers (TXCH) and Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative at Texas Children’s Hospital (BIPAI) through public-private partnerships with the governments of Botswana, Uganda and Malawi, announced a $100 million initiative to create an innovative pediatric hematology-oncology treatment network in southern and east Africa.

In March 2011, Japan was rocked to the core when the Great Eastern Earthquake destroyed entire communities – leaving many dead and others with nowhere to go. Last night the Los Angeles Kings hosted Pride Night at STAPLES Center for the Kings-Arizona Coyotes game. As part of the NHL’s ‘Hockey Is For Everyone’ initiative, LA Kings Pride Night in support of You Can Play featured a ceremonial puck drop by the LA Galaxy’s Robbie Rogers, the first openly gay man to compete in a top North American professional sports league, auction to benefit You Can Play and appearances by Dr. Drew Pinsky, celebrity doctor and LGBT ally and Lisa Vanderpump, activist, philanthropist, restauranteur and TV personality.

STAR India Launches ‘TED Talks India: Nayi Soch,’ a New Social Impact TV Series Hosted by Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan

Through a groundbreaking partnership with TED, the nonprofit dedicated to sharing talks from the world’s leading thinkers, 21st Century Fox’s STAR India has announced its latest pro-social television series, TED Talks India: Nayi Soch (“New Thinking”). The show will feature speakers presenting big ideas in Hindi in TED’s signature format, with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan serving as the host. The series marks the first time TED will collaborate with a major network and star to produce a TV series featuring original TED Talks in a language other than English.

CPL has more puppies than ever, which is good because those puppies will eventually grow up and be trained to help individuals who rely on their companionship for increased independence and quality of life. But before they get to that point, these puppies need homes where volunteers will provide basic training. That’s where you come in!
