Sands held its annual global virtual celebration to honor the work of members in its flagship capacity-building program for nonprofit organizations, the Sands Cares Accelerator.
Las Vegas Sands’ global corporate giving program, Sands Cares, integrates our philanthropic work worldwide, including financial giving, Team Member volunteerism and in-kind support. The ultimate goal for Sands Cares is to build on our company’s legacy of making an impact in the areas we care about most – our People and those working in the hospitality industry, the Communities we call home and the Planet we share.
Founded by Sheldon Adelson, and starting with a single property in 1990, the footprint and impact of Las Vegas Sands now extends worldwide, from Las Vegas to Macao, and from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (USA) to Singapore. Everything we do is based on the values of People, Planet, and Communities, through our Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability programs.
We are incredibly committed to STEM education at Weatherford, especially when it comes to supporting women and underprivileged youth. In 2016, we provided approximately 2,220 students with STEM mentorship through our Weatherford Worldwide Initiative Supporting Education (WISE) program. In June, the Weatherford WISE program hosted seven high school girls from the Houston area for their IPAA/PESA summer externship.

In August 2016, Las Vegas Sands hosted a group of new teachers through Teach for America Las Vegas Valley for a meet-and-greet with local executives from Las Vegas Sands.
Clean the World recently launched Soap in Schools in Las Vegas, a program in partnership with Sands Cares. Started in January 2016, the program has run domestically in Orlando, Florida and internationally in Kenya and Tanzania, expanding to India and Haiti 2017.
