Comcast and Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County (BGCTC) have opened new Lift Zones in Lacey, Tumwater, Yelm, and Rochester to help youth build their digital skills.
In conjunction with the Learning and Development courses offered to all Team Members, Sands Academy has established the Elevate Series. The series focuses on providing the tools for leaders to set the example for their Team Members and building relationships to ensure success within their teams. The Elevate Series offers four classes that are mandatory for all Supervisors and Managers with one that is mandatory for all Directors to offer support in various areas.
Cox Enterprises announced today the Jim Kennedy Scholarship Fund recipients. The fund supports children of Cox employees and annually awards ten, $10,000 scholarships.

This winter the teens pitched ideas — from drive-through recycling centers to bottle cap pinball games — to representatives from Grand Teton and Subaru, which has partnered with the park on its zero-waste initiative. The ideas were then narrowed by a panel of judges.

This summer, Epsilon is partnering with the Dallas Mayor’s Summer Reading Club to promote childhood engagement through reading even when they’re not in school. Reading doesn’t have to stop when summer starts! Children who read during the summer months are better prepared when school starts again in the fall, and Epsilon understands the importance of this academic readiness. Epsilon has been a supporter of this program for the past few years and is honored to serve as the presenting sponsor for a program that has such an impact on children in the Dallas community.
Today my school looks drastically different than it did at the beginning of the school year, and that is thanks to the more than 400 members of the Comcast NBCUniversal family, including dozens from their nonprofit partner City Year, who joined us on our campus in April for Comcast Cares Day. The volunteers made change happen by painting bright and colorful murals throughout the school that focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and college preparedness. The physical transformation of the school has inspired our students, where 80 percent of them are eligible for free or reduced lunch, to believe that each and every one can and will be ready for a college career when they graduate.
Last week, JetBlue welcomed aboard 12 students from the Viscardi Center a non-profit organization that educates and empowers children with disabilities.
