Novartis announces a five-year commitment to the fight against malaria in conjunction with the 7th Multilateral Initiative on Malaria Conference and the Malaria Summit of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting. Further, the company releases new African research on progress and remaining challenges toward the 2030 malaria elimination targets, together with Elimination 8 and the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust program.

With months of ideation, research, creation and pitching behind them, three schools have been named national winners in the $2 million* Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest from Samsung Electronics America, Inc. – a nationwide competition that challenges 6th through 12th graders to use STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) to address real-world issues and inspire change in their local communities.

Atlas Copco, a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions, recently donated new brewing equipment to support Colorado State University’s (CSU) Fermentation Science and Technology Degree Program. The oil-free air compressors, nitrogen generator, receiving tanks, electronic water drains and air filters will be used to keep the University’s campus brewery running efficiently and support research that requires specific anaerobic environments.

Working and Living on Mars: Students Win National Generation Beyond Competition to Design Orbiting Science Lab, Living Space for Astronauts on Mars Mission

Lockheed Martin is working on technologies that will make deep-space travel possible, like building the spacecraft that will go to Mars. As part of its Generation Beyond K-12 science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education initiative – developed in partnership with Discovery Education – the company on Friday announced the winners of a nationwide contest asking students to design a Mars-orbiting science lab and living spaces, or Mars Base Camp Habitation Module, that will dock with NASA’s Orion deep space spacecraft.
