(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) March 21, 2011 - iStockphoto (www.istockphoto.com) is connecting with its huge community of users to provide help to victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

iStock Cares™ created the Japan Relief Fund, donation capability for which is embedded into the e-commerce shopping cart that is utilized for the purchase of iStockphoto image credits and other merchandise.  iStock is matching donations to the fund, dollar for dollar, as part of the program up to a specified limit.

The fund is comprised of three charities, all of which are now on the ground in Japan: Doctors without Borders, Save the Children (Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund) and MercyCorps (via their partner charity, Peace Winds Japan).  Donors are provided with an immediate receipt for their donations via e-mail.

The technology to power the charity portfolio, real-time matching offer, immediate tax receipts and funds distribution is powered by Benevity (www.benevity.org) and effected via the American Endowment Foundation.  This crisis relief initiative was implemented and launched within four days of being conceived, a testament to both iStock’s commitment and the flexibility of the Benevity embeddable donation processing platform.
