Since 2014, Bechtel has hosted a luncheon to recognize suppliers, both large and small, that support our Nuclear, Security & Environmental projects. The awards luncheon is an opportunity to express how much we value the relationship we have with our suppliers and subcontractors. It’s an effective way to recognize the work that our suppliers do to help Bechtel meet customer needs, and deliver and support exceptional projects globally. We are elated that suppliers travel from around the world to participate in our recognition luncheon, this year we had companies attend from as far away as Australia and Switzerland.

Months before the luncheon, we request our NS&E projects to nominate suppliers that have made outstanding contributions on our projects throughout the current year. The criteria for nominations fall under a variety of categories, such as safety, schedule, cost, quality, complexity, innovation, and business interface. Once the nominations are received, a functional panel review is coordinated. The panel reviews and approves the nominations, and selects the top four supplier/subcontractor awards: Large Business Subcontractor of the Year, Large Business Supplier of the Year, Small Business Subcontractor of the Year, and Small Business Supplier of the Year.

The nominees receive their awards at the annual luncheon, which typically includes between 70-100 guests including Bechtel senior vice presidents (SVP), principle vice presidents (PVP), business line managers, functional managers, and project and supply chain managers. The entire room embraces an ambience of comradery including great discussions, and informal networking all under one roof.

Barbara Rusinko, president of Bechtel’s NS&E global business unit stated, “Our subcontractor and supplier community relationships are the cornerstone to many of our highly technical, and often first-of-its-kind projects. The performance of these suppliers continues to enhance our ability to deliver superior service to our customers and advance innovation in the industry.” Also, NS&E manager of procurement and contracts, Trisha O’Toole, was the mistress of ceremonies and provides the welcome and closing remarks at the luncheon.

The following suppliers were recognized as the top awardees at the 2018 NS&E Supply Chain Recognition Luncheon:

  • Large Business Subcontractor of the Year – Teledyne Brown Engineering
  • Small Business Subcontractor of the Year – DYNACOM Corporation
  • Large Business Supplier of the Year – Anvil International
  • Small Business Supplier of the Year – TD Supply Specialists

One of this year’s suppliers said, “This award means more to me and our company than you can imagine. I know Bechtel’s standards are high and this type of an award is not given lightly so to be singled out in this fashion gives us a great incentive to continue providing the service we do.” they also added, “This award is proof for all of us that our hard work does not go unnoticed.”

What started as a simple idea has grown into a recognition ceremony that’s talked about across the industry. Bechtel is leading the way in recognizing the contributions of our suppliers and subcontractors and working hard to build upon our relationships as we work to engineer the next 100 years.
