The Urban Ecology Center’s 8th annual “Winterfest” event took place on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Milwaukee’s Washington Park.

The Urban Ecology Center is a strong, long-term partner of Time Warner Cable, and their mission is to foster ecological understanding as inspiration for change through outdoor science education for urban youth. Time Warner Cable was proud to be the presenting sponsor of Winterfest again in 2016, as this event is a great fit with TWC’s Connect a Million Minds initiative, which aims to inspire the next generation of problem solvers.

The annual Winterfest event celebrated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) through fun, outdoor winter activities that include ice skating, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice fishing and more.

More than 750 students attended this year’s Winterfest event, despite temperatures that hovered near the freezing mark. Additionally, 15 TWC employees volunteered their time at this event, and enjoyed assisting with the indoor and outdoor STEM activities.

Winter is a special time in Wisconsin, and Winterfest’s unique spin on STEM made this event beneficial for the Milwaukee community, as well as our TWC employee volunteers!
