CAMPAIGN: Connect A Million Minds

The 7th annual Time Warner Cable STEMfest took place Nov. 6 & 7 at Milwaukee’s Discovery World, and more than 5,000 problem solvers took part in the event’s hands-on STEM activities!

Friday night’s event was reserved exclusively for Girl Scouts and their families, and 1,000 Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast members took part in the festivities. On Saturday, TWC’s sponsorship allowed Discovery World to be open to the public at no charge, and more than 4,000 local residents were able to attend! This free admission makes STEMfest the most ethnically diverse attendance day annually at Discovery World according to the organization’s CEO.

In keeping with the event’s tradition, STEMfest featured hands-on STEM exhibits from more than 10 of Milwaukee’s STEM leaders. Time Warner Cable’s on-site activation highlighted our organization’s Go Green initiative. TWC is committed to raising environmental awareness, using fewer natural resources and generating less waste in our business through initiatives that we collectively call "Go Green". An Executive Steering Committee, chaired by our CEO Rob Marcus, and a Go Green Working Committee, made up of TWC leaders from across the company, guide this effort through the development of policies, programs and processes that focus on environmental sustainability and environmental issues.

At STEMfest, TWC provided visitors with “Stepping Stones to a Greener Planet.” This interactive, life-sized game path found fun ways to teach participants how simple, everyday choices can help the environment.

STEMfest is Time Warner Cable’s largest annual event in the state of Wisconsin, and the success of our 2015 event is another great example of the power of STEM and the impact that is being made by TWC’s Connect a Million Minds initiative!
