San Fernando Selects New Thermo King Units to Increase Energy Efficiency and Reliability, Lower Lifecycle Costs
Lima, Peru, July 29, 2013 /3BL Media/ - San Fernando, a large Lima, Perú -based poultry producer, has selected 74 Thermo King refrigeration units to replace half the units in their aging transportation fleet. San Fernando is also the first company in Latin America to add new Thermo King ColdCube™ flexible and portable containers for freezing and cooling applications to its operations.

Working in collaboration and with the support of the official local Thermo King dealer, Marco Peruana, San Fernando is replacing 74 refrigeration systems with highly efficient units that include: 14 large trailer refrigeration units, 47 truck units and 13 small truck units.
San Fernando is also adding eight ColdCube™ units for freezing applications, likewise provided by Marco Peruana. The ColdCube serves as a mobile cooler or freezer which can be loaded quickly into a standard van/truck or plugged into a standard wall outlet for continuous cooling.
These portable containers are enabling San Fernando to expand distribution of frozen poultry, which previously was limited to local delivery, to counter the challenges that thawing presents.
Previously, San Fernando leaders found it cost prohibitive to undertake a heavy duty truck fleet expansion to increase frozen product sales, currently a small segment of their overall portfolio. San Fernando enhanced its frozen food delivery capabilities, extending them throughout the country, by adding the ColdCube units to its fleet at a much lower cost than fleet expansion.
