June 24, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Today, GE released its 2012 Sustainable Growth report detailing how the company manages corporate citizenship and tracks progress. Through its reporting, GE seeks to demonstrate to customers, employees, shareowners, business partners and others in society how helping to solve global challenges is core to the company’s growth strategy.

GE’s report follows the environment, economic and social (EES) format, or People, Planet and Economy, and covers progress against commitments and 2012 progress. People focuses on customers, employees, communities and shareholders, the significant value they bring to the company and the support GE provides them. Planet reviews the scope and management of GE’s environmental footprint, focusing on water, energy and climate, and the management of resources for the company’s products and services. And, Economy highlights GE’s approach to effective corporate governance and public policy to support continued development and prosperity.

Highlights of GE’s 2012 progress include:
• More than $219 million committed to community and educational organizations.
• Certification of 450 GE sites for its HealthAhead program.
• $7 million in savings identified from Energy Treasure Hunts at GE locations.
• Reduced GHG emissions by 32% from the 2004 baseline.
• Since 2000, GE paid out of $106 billion in dividends.

GE’s 2012 Sustainable Growth report is available on its microsite and as a printable PDF summary.  It links to relevant information on the GE Citizenship website, including case studies and stakeholder blogs. GE is committed to the GRI G3 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines and applies a self-declared GRI Application Level A. This is GE’s ninth Citizenship Report.
