  • Former US Marine Corps Officer Chris Crace to lead national veteran recruiting strategy

New York, NY., November 11, 2015 /3BL Media/ — Today, The PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc. announced a new grant to support veterans with a $1 million commitment to the Four Block Foundation, non-profit organization helping veterans find meaningful careers through transition support, rehabilitation services, and professional development. This announcement coincides with PwC US naming a Veterans Advocacy and Recruiting Leader. Chris Crace, a former Marine Corps Captain, will lead PwC’s national veterans’ advocacy strategy and talent acquisition activities across the firm.

“Four Block’s work to support veterans in the next phase of their life aligns not only with the Foundation’s goals, but also the firm’s Purpose, as it highlights a significant societal problem and gives us the opportunity to lend support to our heroes as they face incredible challenges when returning to the civilian workforce and their communities,” said Shannon Schuyler, principal, chief purpose officer, corporate responsibility leader, PwC and president, PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc. “We want to be at the forefront of lending our combined resources to solve these significant disparities and Four Block gives us the opportunity to deliver vital education and transition services to make that happen.”

Connected to PwC’s commitment to invest in diverse talent, Chris Crace will serve as PwC’s first veterans’ advocacy and recruiting leader. In this role, Crace will implement an enhanced strategic roadmap and operational model for attracting, hiring and retaining veterans as well as veteran spouses. In addition to attracting top veteran talent, he will collaborate with leaders of the firm’s Veterans Affinity Network to mentor new and existing veteran team members, and increase their opportunities for personal and professional development.

“Through my time in the Marines, I developed the talents that PwC is looking for—whole leadership, teamwork and collaboration; all of which are translatable skills that many other veterans possess as a result of their service,” said Crace. “My goal is to deepen the firm’s relationship with the veteran community and be an industry advocate on behalf of other veterans so they have more opportunities to showcase their value and skills.”

This announcement builds upon PwC US’ overall commitment to supporting veterans.  The firm collaborates with the Department of Defense's Military Spouse Employment Partnership, has presented best practices on veterans programs to Joining Forces at the White House and was listed on the 2016 Top 100 Military-Friendly Employer list by Victory Media, the publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse magazines.

“As the firm positions itself to further support US veterans and their families, I’m especially proud of the united approach PwC shares with the Foundation,” said Frank Gaudio, trustee and veterans’ liaison for the PwC Charitable Foundation, and retired US Deputy Tax Leader for PwC. “Through continued strategic investments with organizations like Four Block, we will not only continue to support our cause areas, but also positively represent and reinforce the work of PwC partners and staff to support our veterans.”

Last year, The PwC Charitable Foundation Inc. committed to giving $5 million by 2019 to support veterans and their children. The grants focus on the areas of education, transition to the workforce and professional development; including activities such as scholarships, preparing, training and credentialing and/or facilitating degree opportunities for veterans preparing for careers in today’s ever changing economy.  Since the announcement, the Foundation has committed $2.25 million of the pledge, which includes $1.25 million to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, the Nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to military children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen.
