Just a few weeks ago, SkillsUSA wrapped up their 50th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), which it calls "a showcase of career and technical education students." Around 15,000 students, teachers, and business partners were in attendance at the Kansas City conference. Among them were representatives from Marcone Supply and industry partners, including Whirlpool.

The highlight of NLSC is undoubtedly the skills competition portion. Students participate in various contests to test talents like technical knowledge, leadership, and artistry. With 99 different competitions, categories range from web design to humanoid robotics to community service.

In the major appliance and refrigeration technology contest, students were tested on their speed, troubleshooting ability, repair accuracy, and customer service skills. On the judges panel for this event was Marcone's Stuart Johnson, manager of Marcone Lenexa. John Daley, GM of Marcone's Southeast region, also serves as a board member for the SkillsUSA Major Appliance Repair Sector.

Winners of the appliance repair competition included high school students Alec Brown of Miami, Jessica Martins from New Bedford, and Wyatt Hardy of Newark. Congratulations everyone, and we'll see you at NLSC next year!
