May 12, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Our Little Haven, a St. Louis-based nonprofit, raised a record-setting 200 thousand dollars at their annual dinner auction thanks in part to the support of Marcone, a St. Louis-based appliance parts distributor. The event, held on Sunday, April 24, 2016, attracted almost 500 local philanthropically minded individuals. Along with a donation of 25 thousand dollars over the past year, Marcone lent its leadership expertise and network of powerful connections to make the event the most successful that Our Little Haven has experienced.

“Marcone has been significant in helping so many young people in St. Louis realize a future filled with positivity and possibility,” says Scott Hummel, executive director of Our Little Haven. “I marvel at the quiet, dedicated kindness.”

This record-breaking dinner auction is the latest in consistent gifting Our Little Haven has received from Marcone. Over years of committed support, the company has donated over 150 thousand dollars and served as a sponsor for numerous events.

“The efforts that Our Little Haven makes for St. Louis are crucial to a healthier community,” says Jim Souers, CEO of Marcone, who has personally donated over a quarter of a million dollars in lifetime gifts to Our Little Haven. “As a large local employer, we also understand the long-term benefit that investments like supporting Our Little Haven can have on the quality of our future workforce.”

According to Hummel, the years of mentorship provided by Marcone leadership has enabled his organization to increase fundraising efforts for Our Little Haven. In particular, Hummel sites Souers’ personal advice in helping to shape a successful approach to development. Hummel says the brand name of Marcone also attracts others in the business and philanthropic community.

“The collective impact of people like the leadership at Marcone is tremendous to our organization, and they taught us how to be invitational and not expectational,” says Hummel. “That posture has allowed us to gather other titans of industry, which has translated into more happy and healthy lives for young people in St. Louis.”

Souers’ support of Our Little Haven is centered on both its mission and its early intervention model. By impacting the lives of children at an early age, the issues that surround generational poverty and trauma can be reversed. Marcone leadership states it looks forward to increased support of Our Little Haven and other organizations with effective intervention strategies.
