FISHERS, Ind., May 26, 2020 /3BL Media / - Land Betterment Corporation (“Land Betterment” or the “Company”), an environmental solutions company fostering positive impact through upcycling former coal mining and industrial sites to create sustainable community development and job creation, is proud to announce the site selections for its first two residential housing communities in eastern Kentucky.  The Company’s sustainable housing division, ekō, is an ecological development company using innovative solutions to upcycle land and material for the community through affordable, modern, energy efficient, container-based, modular housing villages.

Land Betterment has chosen two sites in eastern Kentucky for the location of its first two ekō villages.  The first site, The Village of Pike, is located in Pike County, Kentucky approximately eight miles from the town of Pikeville.  The Village of Pike will consist of approximately 21 sustainable homes manufactured from upcycled shipping containers.  The second site location is in Perry County, Kentucky approximately 7 miles from the town of Hazard.  Named the Village of Perry, it will consist of approximately 70 sustainable homes.

Mark Jensen, Executive Chairman of Land Betterment Corporation commented, “We’re are really excited to bring a much more efficient housing option to the Appalachia region.  As a solution-based company, our ekō villages are bringing real sustainable, environmental and social solutions to a region in need.  The sites we have selected are former industrial sites once utilized by the coal industry.  They are safe, flat, spacious, and well located.  Additionally, our ekō homes use recycled steel shipping containers which will provide local residents with an affordable housing option that is strong, energy efficient and weather, insect and rodent resistant.  They offer modern amenities and will provide residents their own personal and safe living spaces.”

Land Betterment is proud to have its first ekō sites selected.  The Company is also currently working on additional site locations and looking forward to bringing its modern, ecological and sustainable housing option to other nearby communities.
