Foundation Grant to Help Flood Victims in India

The $20,000 grant will help to provide relief in Uttarakhand, India, which recently suffered the worst flooding in decades.

June 28, 2013 /3BL Media/ - The Verizon Foundation has awarded a $20,000 grant to the Indian Red Cross for disaster relief Uttarakhand, India, which has suffered some of the worst flooding in more than 80 years. Verizon will also match employee donations dollar-for-dollar through the foundation’s Matching Gifts program.

Officials in India are still trying to get an accurate count of the dead, but say many people are still missing and that thousands have been stranded or evacuated.

The nonprofit organizations eligible for the foundation's employee 1:1 match in India are:

  • Indian Red Cross
  • AID India
  • United Way, Mumbai
