(3BL Media) Calgary, Alberta - June 15, 2012 - Not long after the release of its 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report, Encana Corporation has again been recognized for its environmental, social and governance performance in the 2012 Corporate Knights’ Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada list. Encana was ranked among the top three energy producers and placed 16th overall.

“We are always pleased to receive this type of third-party recognition,” says Dave Lye, Encana’s Vice-President of Corporate EH&S, Security and Corporate Responsibility. “Not only is the hard work we put into responsible development recognized by our stakeholders, but we are leading the way among energy producers in North America.”

The Corporate Knights’ Best 50 Corporate Citizens list, now in its 11th year, uses 13 key performance indicators in establishing its ranking. Scores are based on indicators such as energy productivity, water productivity, leadership diversity, injuries and lost-time incidents as well as transparency. Enbridge, Nexen, Suncor and Talisman were also listed in the top 20.

“These rankings are one way we can benchmark our environmental, social and governance performance against our industry peers,” says Lye. “In a culture of continuous improvement, this list provides insight into areas where we are performing exceptionally well and areas where we can improve our performance.”
