Tetra Tech Receives ACEC Massachusetts 2019 Engineering Excellence Gold Award
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) honored Tetra Tech with the 2019 Engineering Excellence Gold Award for its achievements on the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Liberia Municipal Water Project (LMWP) I & II. This award recognizes engineering projects for innovation, complexity, fulfillment of client needs, socio-economic considerations, and future value to the profession. Tetra Tech provided engineering design, construction oversight, and institutional reform on LMWP, while building the capacity of the water utility and local engineers.

Commercializing Flare Gas to Reduce Emissions and Develop Economies
Associated gas (AG) is produced from the reservoir during oil production. In this post, Tetra Tech’s John Sachs, director of project finance, and Artur Davtyan, manager of project finance, discuss how AG could be used to fuel power plants, used as bottled gas, serve as a feedstock, exported as liquid natural gas (LNG), or put to other productive use, with contributions by John Beardsworth and William Newton of Hunton Andrews Kurth, LLP. Tetra Tech Joins USAID to Celebrate Sustainable Water Treatment Plant in Liberia
On November 28, 2018, community officials, the Liberian government, and officials from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) celebrated the dedication of the Sanniquellie City water treatment plant. As part of the USAID Liberia Municipal Water Project (LMWP), Tetra Tech designed a solar-powered water treatment plant and public distribution system, placing kiosks within 500 meters of homes to reduce the time families spend collecting water to under 30 minutes. This is one of the largest solar-powered treatment plants in Liberia and West Africa.

“The Dream” of a Responsible Minerals Trade in the DRC Becomes a Reality
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) recently launched a new video that tells the story of how its local and international partners are developing a commercially viable, conflict-free supply chain for artisanal minerals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Tetra Tech is supporting the USAID Capacity Building For Responsible Minerals Trade (CBRMT) project to help scale-up conflict-free mineral certification and traceability systems in the region.
