AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, released its 2018 Sustainability Report, a comprehensive publication that details the company’s global efforts toward reducing its environmental footprint through its 10-year old, industry-leading global sustainability program, AEG 1EARTH.

Goldenvoice’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival Phases Out Single-use Plastic Straws in Favor of Biodegradable Paper Straws
Goldenvoice’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival has phased out single-use plastic straws, making it the first festival in the world to align with Lonely Whale’s ‘For A Strawless Ocean,’ an open-source guide to reduce plastic pollution. According to Lonely Whale, across the United States, nearly 500 million plastic straws are used and tossed each day, amounting to approximately 12 million pounds of plastic waste year.

Los Angeles Plugs in Giant Solar Array at Los Angeles Convention Center
The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), managed by AEG Facilities, recently unveiled its 2.21 megawatt solar array on April 4, during a press conference with Mayor Eric Garcetti. Located on the roof of South Hall, the solar addition brings the convention center’s total solar to 2.58 megawatts, making it the largest solar array on a municipally owned convention center in the United States and propelling the City of Los Angeles to No. 1 for the most installed solar power of any U.S. city.

AEG Hosts First-Ever Earth Hour Competition
On Saturday, March 24, AEG will support World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Earth Hour, a worldwide grassroots movement to unite people in protecting the planet. This year, 22 AEG-affiliated facilities, arenas and convention centers in 18 cities, six countries and on four continents will compete with one another in AEG’s first-ever Earth Hour competition organized by AEG 1EARTH, AEG’s industry-leading corporate sustainability program.

Los Angeles Convention Center Installs Rooftop Garden
The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), managed by AEG Facilities, recently revealed its new 9,500 square-foot rooftop garden. Located above the LACC’s South Hall lobby, the garden features various citrus trees and vegetables that will be used to provide produce for the LACC in-house caterer Levy Restaurants.

AEG Celebrates America Recycles Day
This week more than 35 AEG Facilities-affiliated arenas, stadiums, theaters, clubs and convention centers nationwide are celebrating America Recycles Day, a nationally-recognized event organized by Keep America Beautiful to promote recycling in the United States. Throughout the week, AEG venues will host a variety of events, from cell phone recycling drives to recycling awareness campaigns, to encourage guests, employees and community members to make recycling a part of their lives.

Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center Host 5th Annual Bakersfield Recycles Day
In conjunction with America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, AEG’s Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center hosted the 5th annual celebration of Bakersfield Recycles Day on Nov. 4. Throughout the day, Bakersfield residents dropped off e-waste, household items, clothing and paper shredding for recycling in the South Arena Parking Lot.
