KESHENA, Wis., May 5, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Keshena Primary School students can pick out a free book on Tuesday, May 5 when Bess the Book Bus stops at their school from 9:00AM-11:00AM. Miss Wisconsin, Raeanna Johnson, will also be on hand to read to the children and help distribute books.

Bess the Book Bus is a mobile literacy outreach program founded in 2002 by Jennifer Frances in honor of her grandmother, Bess O'Keefe. Frances now travels the country in the bus, handing out free books to children who have never owned a book of their own to help spread the joy of reading.

“Education is one of the main pillars in our social responsibility program, so we understand that reading early and often is vital to putting young people on a successful path,” said Alan Flagg, assistant vice president of supply and marketing for CITGO. “Bringing Bess the Book Bus to the Menominee Reservation is one way we can support the kids in this community.”

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is one of the main sponsors of Bess the Book Bus as part of its larger Fueling Good initiative, designed to give back to the communities the company serves through local civic and charitable engagement.
