Throughout the last several weeks, thousands of volunteers have given their time and energy to participate in service projects in hundreds of communities nationwide and around the globe. Those efforts were part of the lead up to today’s companywide celebration of Comcast Cares Day, one of the largest corporate commitments to volunteerism and service in America. From coast to coast and in 22 countries abroad, our employees – including our new colleagues at Sky, friends, family members, nonprofit partners, and local leaders, worked together to improve their communities and bring one of our company’s greatest traditions to life.
Alexandra is not only a brave patient—she's also a stellar saleswoman. The 10-year-old sold gum at $0.25 per piece and raised a whopping $150 for the Aflac Cancer Center! Yesterday, she handed over her check as staff came to cheer and support her, just as they have throughout her brain tumor battle. Thank you, Alexandra!
Special thanks to Hall of Fame Quarterback Steve Young, who joined the Aflac Duck at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Children’s Hospitals Week in Orlando, Florida, to raise awareness for children’s hospitals and celebrate My Special Aflac Duck®, a robot designed to help children cope with cancer. Steve has been a major supporter of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for more than 30 years.
My name is Dustin Li, and I am one of the operations coordinators for Cisco Tactical Operations (TacOps). TacOps is a part of Cisco’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. After a disaster strikes, we set up emergency communications.

Last week, PepsiCo employees hosted a workshop for women living in Win’s (formerly Women in Need) South Bronx shelter to help them with resume writing, interviewing and other job search skills. The workshop was held in a new job resource center at the site, which was funded by the PepsiCo Foundation. The Foundation’s grant enabled Win to purchase new computers, hire job specialists and create a dedicated space for residents to focus on finding employment.
According to Women’s World Banking, “Women in Bangladesh have the highest-ever rates of literacy and employment, and the country’s economy is growing. Financial inclusion now stands at more than 50 percent, nearly doubling in the past few years. Each year, more than 15,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. The average length of treatment is 1,000 days, many of which are spent in a hospital, enduring painful treatments in an unfamiliar setting. During this difficult period, children often struggle to voice how they're feeling — emotionally and physically. But thanks to a fuzzy, interactive friend, sharing those feelings is a little easier with the "My Special Aflac Duck" (MSAD). Part of Aflac’s ongoing Aflac Childhood Cancer Campaign and developed by Sproutel, the duck is a smart robotic companion that features naturalistic movements and interactive technology to help comfort children with cancer.
